Schedule

Transmissions between pairs of stations take place on fixed schedules, usually twice a day; although some days, especially on Sundays and North Korean public holidays, the second transmission is omitted. Links are initiated by one station calling the other, always the same and normally the bigger station of both (Pyongyang or Moscow hub, or big relay embassy). The start time can vary by more or less 10 minutes from the scheduled time, and may be delayed by the station being still tied up with another link.

The calling station starts transmitting on the scheduled frequency, and sends a QSX frequency to the peer station until it replies on it and the link is established. The QSX frequency in this schedule is only the primary choice, and is not guaranteed to be always used, depending on propagation conditions; more rarely, even the calling station can switch to a different sending frequency. All DPRK-ARQ frequencies are meant in LSB mode.

The modem IDs identifying stations on the link appear in the first byte of each DPRK-ARQ packet, and indicate the peer station - the destination of the packets rather than their source.

Moscow hub schedule

Moscow (0xA5) is designated to handle 10 stations in Europe, as well as 2 stations in North Africa and 1 in Western Asia. It is believed to have a non-radio connection with the MFA in Pyongyang. The embassy in Moscow is equipped with three different shortwave LPDA antennas, and has been observed to handle up to three DPRK-ARQ links simultaneously, communicating with three different peer embassies at the same time.

Pyongyang hub schedule

Pyongyang (0xD3) itself receives messages from stations in South and Southeast Asia. So far little information is available to identify which embassies these correspond to.
