Libyan Psyops
Friday, September 9, 2011
Hi, First blog post from me.
Through out the Libyan conflict we have been hearing Psyops broadcasts by NATO "Command Solo" Lockheed EC-130 aircraft . It seems that even now, after the fall of Tripoli NATO are still broadcasting their Psyops Messages to the Libyan population.
A good catch by Danix111 on the IRC today was of one of these Psyops broadcast on 10404khz. again like previous Libyan Psyops messages it is broadcast in English and Arabic. The broadcast consisted of two repeated messages that can be heard here.
A rough transcription of the messages are:
"Proud supports of free Libya your kinsmen have fought bravely to bring freedom, peace and equality to your country. Many have given their lives without thought for themselves, there are children without fathers and women without husbands so that all that is good and just can be heaped upon your heads and those of your children. The entire world knows you and they are indebted to you, show the world that the martyrs have not died in vain and apply their desire for justice to the misguided soldiers of Gadafi who are also your brothers and reach out your hands in forgiveness."
"Libyan fishing vessels operating in the area, NATO warships are here to assist in supporting a UN resolution to enforce a maritime embargo in order to protect the Libyan people. Your co-operation and communication with NATO Mariners on Maritime VHF is welcome. Please let us know your position and your intended movements or activity and if you can see activity that could harm a civilian or the civilian population please report it to any NATO ship. In any case please do not hesitate to contact NATO warships operating in the area. NATO warships are here to assist and protect the Libyan People."
These are along way off from the early day of threatening to destroy any vessels leaving port and show how close the end in fighting we maybe. We can only wonder how long they will keep broadcasting these messages following the success of the rebels in Libya, but we hope to catch more.
