I have been monitoring S30's (Pip)
night frequency since the 22nd of October and here is a
short presentation of my findings so far.
Broadcast times
First of all, the seasonal schedule circulating online appears to
be wrong, at least when it comes to the summer and autumn
schedules. The first time I tuned to record Pip I noticed that it
was already in progress, so to provide proper coverage I decided to
wait another day and start my recording at midday UTC so I
definitely wouldn't miss t...

Podcast 12 our 1 year special is about to go live on my
stream:
Webweasel on
USTREAM
Its going live at 8:30-9pm roughly but come join us now for a
little Russian music and prepodcast fun. As always the live version
is uncut, raw and without the samples from our edited version. As
its live it might not be so family friendly either. And we shall be
on for the usual drunken after party.

Hello, Trojan here!
Well, we've got new bearings of the Buzzer by radioscanner.ru
members
You can see - new bearings show that station is still near
Pskov.
Well, and now what we was waiting for. The TV-show on Russia-2
shown priyom.org! (hehe, and didn't show my interview). To be
subtitled.
Good luck and good bye! Trojan

2 buzzers can it be?
There has long been speculation that there are 2 or more
transmitter sites for the buzzer. Conflicting reception reports,
people saying the buzzer did not switch off when a message occured
and other reports have often left us scratching our heads in
explanation. Yesterday we heard a test count broadcast on the
buzzers frequency while the buzzer was still running. This could be
mixed at the broadcast source of course and offers no proof...
until today!
We can clearly ...

Well it has been a busy day for us, interesting happenings on
the buzzer, people being interviewed and xmwhales are just a few of
the things we have been tracking today. However youll have to wait
for all that as we intend to do another podcast very soon to
discuss whats been going on.
As ever we have been working hard behind the scenes of the site
and I have put a lot of time into subtle but important site changes
as we bring more and more online with the database. All the station
pages ar...

A Russia couple was arrested in Germany recently and accused of
espionage. Details are a little sketchy right now, but inital
reports say the wife was arrested at home and was "writing down a
covert message sent by radio" at the time of her arrest!
Russian Spies arrested in Germany
We shall have to keep a close eye on this one, perhaps our
German members can make a freedom of information request once the
court case is over, would be great if we could identify the station
they were using. ...

Working my way through the internet as I do, I came across this
bbc radio 4 program from April 4th 2010 called GCHQ: Cracking the
code. As you probably know GCHQ is the UK's signals intelligence
division so this is well worth a listen.
GCHQ:
Cracking the code BBC Radio 4 2010-04-04 17:00 (UK listeners
only I am afraid, but hey you know what a proxy is right?)
BBC summary:
"The BBC's Security Correspondent Gordon Corera gains
unprecedented access to Britain's ultra secret listening station...

We have been in contact with bydunai who has been taking trips
to povarovo and has filmed and photographed his experience. Its
great to actually speak to someone who has been to the site and we
hope to get him on the podcast soon. His livejournel post is well
worth a read:
A trip to
povarovo and the UVB-76 site
We heard a jammer we had not heard this afternoon, sounding like
a number of car alarms all going at once. So for now were calling
it the "woo-woo" jammer. Broadcasting on 12140 kHz...

Hello comrades, Trojan here! I have a little message for
you.
Well, as you remember, an article about UZB-76 was posted in
"Wired" magazine some time ago. And now two Russian government
channels are interested in Priyom.org and numbers stations theme.
The channels' names are "Russia Today" (this one is
English-speaking ;) and "Rossiya 2" ("Russia 2", mostly sport
channel. Russian-language). "Russia Today"'s producer wrote in the
topic about UZB-76 on a famous Russian radio site. Avare and m...

Take my eye off the ball for a week or two, to do some more
programming for the site and get a podcast done and stuff happens
to fast for me to keep up with it all. We recorded a podcast a few nights back and
finally managed to time it right to catch laid so he joined us for
the podcast! We had a great discussion about being in wired
magazine and we had the chance to ask him about setting up the
repeater and his opinions on number stations, UVB-76 and the
shortwave scene. N1ck joined us for ...
